As promised some more information about the concerts that make up Tangerine Leaves 2. Volume 13: Dresden, Deutsches Hygiene-Museum 26 November 1983 (2 CDR) -->straight from the master tape. This is the only existing audience recording of a TD concert which was held behind "the iron curtain" in the former German Democratic Republic (there also exists one for their gig in East Berlin 1990, but that took place already a few months after the wall came down) The music is very reminiscent of the Warsaw Ice Stadium Dec. 1983 show, but not identical to the official release. Sound quality is around 7/10, minimal audience noises Volume 14: Brighton Dome 17 October 1981 (2 CDR) --> audience master tape copy. A very good recording from their "Exit" tour, the music is pretty much identical to Tangerine Tree Vol. 10, Newcastle 25 October 1981. This has "Kiew mission" as encore, "Choronzon" is missing because the taper seems to have used a 90 minute tape. Sound quality 7/10, very little audience noise Volume 15: Liverpool Cathedral 16 October 1975 (2 CDR) --> another great 'Cathedral concert', although the sound quality is not better than for example York 20 October 1975 or Coventry 4 October 1975 (both recordings were part of TL1). Sound quality 5/10, minimal audience noises Volume 16: Portsmouth Guild Hall 09 November 1976 (1 CDR) --> audience master tape copy. Performed the day after their monumental concert at the Albert Hall in Nottingham, the music is reminiscient of that performance but still has enough variety and improvisation to make it sound different. We had to leave out the first 8 minutes of the first track, and the first few minutes of the second track as the sound quality was horrible. So you get to hear a shortened 68 minute version. Sound quality is about 6-7/10, audience noises are minimal to normal. Volume 17: Les Ponts de Cé Open Air Festival 20 May 1973 (2 CDR) --> very fascinating for those who like the pre-Phaedra period! A big carpet of sound which may be reminiscient of tracks like "Sunrise in the third system". No sequencer or melody in sight. One of my favourite recordings of TL2. Sound quality 6/10, audience noise is close to zero. Volume 18: Birmingham Odeon 12 November 1976 (1 CDR) --> a recording which is known by only very few people, I received this 1st gen audience recording a few years ago, being labelled as Croydon 14 November 1976 (which it was not). A front row recording which could have been an absolute Tangerine Tree highlight, but unfortunately the concert must have been at least 130db, and the guy's poor tape machine couldn't take it. The silent parts have a superb sound quality, but the louder it gets it becomes a pretty overmodulated affair. Which is a real shame, since this is an absolutely superb performance. Just listen to the first half of Track 1, or the encore....To me ears this sounds more modern than what most of these "Berlin school" based EM artists are doing today... Sound quality ranges between 1-8/10, audience noise is close to zero. Volume 19: Hoffman Estates Poplar Creek Music Center 25 August 1988 (2 cdr) --> a very nice audience master tape recording of TD's first "Optical race" gig, held in Hoffman Estates (Chicago). Recorded from the 20th row (if I can trust the information that was written on the cassette inlay), and one of the best audience recordings I know from that tour. Sound quality 8/10, normal American audience noises ;-)) Volume 20: Adelaide Festival Theatre 25 March 1975 (2 CDR) --> audience master tape copy. This is one of only three existing unreleased recordings which feature Michael Hoenig, who replaced Peter Baumann for a very short period. Sound quality is around 5 or 6/10, almost no audience noises. Volume 21: Milwaukee Riverside Theater 29 March 1977 (1 CDR) --> the first gig of their North American concert tour. An audience recording which I would rate 6/10, average audience noises (but not as much as for example Detroit 77) Volume 22: Düsseldorf Philipshalle 11 November 1982 (2 CDR) --> an excellent audience master tape recording which someone sent me just recently. This is from their "Logos" tour, and the music is indentical to TT Vol. 12, Croydon 31.10.82. The encores are missing, as are the last four minutes of the 2nd set. Sound quality 8/10, very little audience noise. Volume 23: Croydon Fairfield Hall 14 November 1976 (1 CDR) --> another great concert from the golden years, and with some insane screaming from Peter Baumann (Track 2). Sound quality 6/10, average audience noise Volume 24: Cantu Palasport Piarelli 07 February 1981 (2 CDR) --> audience master tape copy. Another great recording from the "Schmoelling years" which is similar to TTVol. 28, Firenze 8.2.1981. Sound quality is for the most part excellent (8/10). Just like the Firenze show you can hear a lively audience.. Volume 25: Oxford Apollo Theatre 26 March 1986 (2 CDR) --> audience master tape & 1st gen. Recorded by "Billy the Fish" (a tadream member), and he did a very good job :-) Taken from the "Underwater sunlight" tour, and identical to TT35 Birmingham 17.03.1986. Sound quality 7/10, average audience noises Volume 26 & 27: London Shepherds Bush Empire 12 May 2001 WEBCAST (3 CDR) --> the complete Webcast of the concert and a nice present to those who were there (I can still see Colin catching Edgar's sweaty towel ;-) Sound quality 8-9/10, minimal audience noise. All these recordings were remastered by (Side Effects), except London 2001 (Jabberwock)
