TANGERINE DREAM - ATHENS 1983 - TV BROADCAST Chris Owens Sourced from second (?) generation SECAM VHS tape, originally provided to me in late 80's by Omiros Karajas, who interviews TD at the start of the broadcast. Digitally converted, then edited in Adobe Premier to reduce video noise, enhance colours, etc. Remastered audio by Wouter Bessels 2020,, thanks Wouter!. The encore Choronzon has been re-positioned at the end of the main set. This video has been a difficult one to improve in terms of image quality, partly because the quality varies during the broadcast. It start off very noisy, then improves for the middle 40-50 minutes, and is then patchy again for the last half hour. I'm not Peter Jackson, but I've done what I can to make it more watchable. It's certainly now a lot more enjoyable to watch. The original VHS was noisy, lacked contrast, had varies colour bleeds, and suffered I think because of TD's low stage lightning. I suspect the TV company used some sort of gain to achieve more detail, which has resulted in a noisy picture. But, at least, after 30 years, it's finally in colour. There were a few dozen instaces of audio drop-outs....most of which you won't noticed due to cross fades and carefully copying-and-pasting a slice of music from elsewhere in the same track. But occasionally, this just wasn't possible, so it'll look like I've edited those bits with garden shears! But there was nothing else I could do. There will be (I hope) a better digital transfer in the near future, but for now, download and enjoy. File is almost 2GB. You'd think I'd be able to spell the band's name right by now!
